Plan your trip

Washington Adventure

Trip details:

Hello! My boyfriend and I currently live in Phoenix, AZ. I have lived all over the Northwest and my boyfriend has never been there before. So we planned a trip at the end of May to go up there.

I have part of it figured out because we know we wanted to end the week in Whistler, so that is covered. But, even though I've lived there, I can't figure out the best way to do it. We are flying in and out of Seattle and we get in May 27th in the late morning. We'll be driving to Whistler on June 1st. It is the the beginning of the trip that I'm sure about- I know he'll want to explore Seattle for maybe a day or two, and then I figured we would slowly drive up, maybe see some coastal towns, maybe some woodsy forest towns. I'd love to find a beachfront cottage to stay at for a night, and then maybe a rustic cabin another. I just would really like him to see all that Washington has to offer.

We are avid mountain bikers (although we'll be doing that at Whistler so not necessary in Washington unless there is some place amazing for it) and outdoors enthusiasts, so hiking and kayaking or any other outdoor adventures would be awesome, too. We're up for camping but won't have any supplies. When staying in hotels, condos, etc. the biggest importance factor is for it to be immaculately CLEAN, and more updated/modern/comfortable is preferred. We like all foods and have no aversions, except for maybe raw seafood/meat. Never could handle slimy oysters! Obviously we would like to save money where we can, but usually don't skimp on comfortable lodging or good food.

I'm just getting dizzy looking at all the different sites. I can't figure out which route to take, what activities to do, or where to stay. It is exhausting! :) Let me know if you need any more information. I would be happy to supply. Looking forward to seeing what you can come up with! - Elyssa

Hi Elyssa! No worries, you've come to the right place! I will make sure you have a well-planned itinerary full of adventure for your Washington trip! First I have a few questions:

How many days total will your trip be; when do you fly back out of Seattle?

Just to clarfy, you want to start with 1 or 2 days to explore Seattle, drive North to visit coastal towns, and end at Whistler?

For accomodations, are you okay with using airbnb? When I begin searching for accommodations I want to be sure you are okay with this option as well as hotels.

Talk to you soon,

Rochelle :)

Okay, first thing first:

Dates: Arrive Saturday 5/27 late morning, Depart Sunday 6/4 early morning

-->However I already have an Airbnb booked for 6/1 and 6/2 in Whistler where we will be busy mountain biking. I would be interested in some other things to do while we are there but we won't need too much filler. So we need to be up north or heading that way on 6/1. Then on 6/3 we were going to drive back down and probably just stay in a hotel somewhere near SeaTac airport.

So total days for the trip is 8, with two-ish in Whistler and then sometime Saturday the 3rd driving back toward Seattle. And yes, I envisioned a little bit of time for Seattle city exploration - maybe see some kind of show at a small music venue, enjoy the history of it, and good food, etc. then start meandering up North. I like the idea of seeing some coastal towns and I like the idea of seeing super intense greenery like Bellingham and am wondering how to piece it all together.

I'm definitely ok with Airbnb, but whole homes- no shared spaces or individual rooms in someone's house. I like them to be super clean and ideally have some cool, unique, maybe even quirky features that you wouldn't find in a hotel. Comfortable couches and beds are really appreciated, too. But clean clean clean is key - I don't like to feel like I'm in someone's full-time home with their smells lingering haha. I hope that doesn't sound crazy. :) As far as hotels go, I have a decent amount of points with Hilton-owned hotels, and I believe my boyfriend has some for SPG hotels as well. A mix of all of the above would be nice. Though I know there are some really cool, super swanky and modernly-updated old building hotels in downtown Seattle that my boyfriend would probably love, too.

Very excited about this! Thanks!

Elyssa

Yes, I understand what you mean about the airbnbs! Lol..I feel the same way when I book an airbnb! Thank you for sending more details. I just want to let you know I am out of town a few days but once I return it will not take me long to put everything together. I want to make sure you are okay with this! I will start by sending you a preliminary plan with activities first, then of you approve those activities I will add in accomodations, map out the best way to fit everything in, and restaurant ideas, etc. The soonest I can send you the first draft of your itinerary is Wednesday, however, I will begin researching ideas for your trip beginning tomorrow :)
