Honeymoon in Maldives: 4 days

Trip details:

We plan to go to Maldives for our honeymoon in the last week of April. We plan to go for 4 nights and 5 days. For the most part, we would like to relax and enjoy the ocean. However, we would also be interested in all kinds of water sports including scuba diving, snorkling. We were also told that the surfing season starts around April. It would be great if that could also be included.

Our overall budget is around 2 lakhs including accomodation, travel airfare and the activities.

Itinerary for honeymoon trip:

It's great to know that you have decided to go to the Maldives.

Maldives offers you plenty of options to choose from. You have the option of staying either in a private resort island (those that are private islands with no more than one hotel to an island and are surrounded by the blue azure seas all around) or you could choose to go the local way, by staying in a local island guesthouse/hotel and mingle with the locals. I am assuming, you would opt for the former. I am also attaching a map of Maldives which will give you a sense of the geography.

A holiday in Maldives does not really require any itinerary, as all you would be doing is relaxing at a holiday resort. In terms of what activities you could engage in while you are there, I can pass you the information as soon as you have chosen your resort. Activities and their related prices vary from resort to resort and there is no general rule of price thumb.

DAY 1 - Arrive in Maldives

Your first day begins as soon as you arrive into Ibrahim Nasir Male International airport. Photo below gives a glimpse of what you are about to keep seeing for the next few days!

Upon your arrival, you will be met and welcomed by a representative who will assist you with your transfer formalities (all the hotel counters are located just a few feet away from the exit gate of the airport). Depending on the mode of transfer booked, you will be then whisked away to your resort by one of the following means:

  • If you are booked to transfer by speed boat, you would be taken over to the jetties where the boat would be waiting for you.

  • If you are booked on a sea plane, a mini bus or car would take you to the sea plane terminal, located across the runway of the airport.

  • If you are booked on a domestic flight, you would be assisted with check-in formalities at the domestic terminal, located just about 50 feet away from the international one.

Once you arrive at your resort, you will be served refreshments, your check-in formalities completed and you would then be taken to your room or villa that has been booked for your holiday. The rest of the day is free and you can spend it at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 2 - In Maldives

Wake up to a fresh new sunny morning. After breakfast, the day is free for you to indulge in the many activities or recreations the resort has to offer. The rest of the day is free to be spent at your leisure. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 3 - In Maldives

Wake up to your third day in this tropical paradise. After breakfast, you could choose to pamper yourself in the spa with a massage or just laze around by the beach with a book in your hand. You can spend the rest of the day at. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 4 - Departure from Maldives

Wake up to your last morning of this trip. After a sumptuous breakfast, you will be transferred back to the international airport in order to catch your flight to your destination.

Let me know which city in India you would be flying from, and I will get back to you with suggestions for flights. In terms of the hotels, I can book them for you myself.

Thanks Pranjal. We have already booked our flights on 28th Apr (Blr to Male) and flying back on 2nd May. Now we are looking for a nice place to stay. Budget for the acco is max 15k per night. We would love to have a solitary hotel island and will be great to have something like that in our budget. Looking forward to your suggestions for the same.

Also let us know if we should club activities and purchase a package or simply book the acco.

Hi Esha,

For a budget of around 15k per night, you would have to look at only the 3 star or lower 4 star properties, and also those that are not far away from the airport in the north or south male atolls, in order to keep the transfer prices in check.

I will get back on this soonest.

Thanks

Hi Pranjal

The 15k budget was for the acco only. Transfers not included in that. However the overall budget is around Rs. 1 lakh (excl the airfare). Hope that clarifies

Hi Pranjal

Will appreciate quicker reverts. We don't want to wait while the tariffs keep rising esp as its still peak season in April

Pranjal Sarmah wrote:

Hi Esha,

Sorry for the delay. Not to worry, hotel tariffs do not rise with time. They remain the same for a specific duration (X month to Y month). It is only airline prices that change with each passing day.

Price valid from 21 April onwards
Double room - Rs. 12600 (Price includes breakfasts, lunches and dinners for 2 persons)

Thanks Pranjal. We are interested in Paradise island resort. We would want to stay 2 nights in superior beach bungalow and 2 nights in water villa. What will be the price then overall? Also can activities be included in the package?

Pranjal Sarmah wrote:

Hi Esha,

Here it is:

PARADISE ISLAND RESORT (4*)
http://360degreeworld.com/resort/paradise-island-resort-and-spa/

Price valid from 21 April onwards

2 nights in superior beach bungalow
2 nights in water villa
Total cost for 2 persons (including breakfasts and dinners in superior beach bungalow, breakfasts only in water villa, return airport transfers and all taxes) - Rs. 114000.00

2 nights in superior beach bungalow
2 nights in water villa
Total cost for 2 persons (including breakfasts, lunches and dinners in both rooms, return airport transfers and all taxes) - Rs. 142000.00.

We can work out the meal plans anyway you choose. The costs will vary accordingly.

Regarding activities, I can send you a list of what all you can do while you are there for your reference. However, it is better to pay directly, as you have to pay additional taxes if you book in India. Moreover, water activites are better booked on the spot there. If weather conditions do not permit you to indulge in certain activities and you prepay them here, we will only have to refund you the money. On the other hand, you can gauge the situation before booking any activity at the resort.

Hope the above helps.

Regards
Pranjal

Also will it be possible to get an indicative price list of activities. We would be booking there itself

Hi Esha,

Ok, if you do not have your passports yet, it is ok. Just send me the names as they would appear on your passports. If you have booked flights, send me the itinerary or flight dates and numbers. If not, let me have the exact check in and check out date. For activities, as I mentioned earlier, it is better to pay them at the resort directly, especially anything related to excursions, sightseeing or water sports. If you book them beforehand and the weather doesn't permit, it's actually a waste.

Pranjal
